God gave us gifts to serve with, not for us to abuse for selfish gain. There is so much abuse of the gifts of the spirit in the church today and is why you see a lack of maturity among believers. People are displaced and wander from one wind of doctrine to another. When I ask the question, “Do you go to heaven?” People look at me with strange looks like they don’t know what I’m talking about or I just might be a whack. The truth is that we should all know how to go to heaven every single day and yet for most of the church, this is a foreign language.

I thought about why this is and it’s because of the vast amount of religious doctrine that has been embedded into the minds of the people, that they just can’t grasp the fact that heaven is for now and that God gave us gifts to help us to mature to the place of walking in heavenly places on a daily basis.

Much of what we have seen in the church is a display of self, flesh, false motives and insecurities in the pulpit where leaders use their gifts to make themselves feel valuable and above other people. Do you know what that is? An unhealed leader. Any time you see the abuse of the gifts of the spirit and the office calls of apostle, prophet, evangelist, teacher and pastor, it’s because they are unhealed. I understand they can be in a hard place or not being able to go to many to receive their healing but we can go to God, our Heavenly Father, Jesus our Savior and the Holy Spirit our comforter to receive our healing.

The gifts of the spirit are to help us to navigate the spirit realm and to help others navigate the spirit realm so that we can grow up to maturity as sons in the Lord. All of creation is waiting and groaning for the sons of God to manifest but what we have is a broken people who lack the nourishment they need to grow to maturity. It’s almost like being a handicap child. Somewhere along the way, there was a malnourishing and a lack of nurture because those who were to nurture, abandoned those they were to nourish. They were not nurtured themselves and therefore could not properly nourish others. The ones who are to nourish are the ones who are receiving nourishment from above. We don’t get nourished from the soul and yet much of the teaching we receive is soulish and not spirit. You can tell the difference. It’s has a certain feel of stagnation to it but it can be very persuasive.

When discerning where the spirit of a gift is coming from, I think of James 3:17-18 which says:

But the wisdom from above is first pure [morally and spiritually undefiled], then peace-loving [courteous, considerate], gentle, reasonable [and willing to listen], full of compassion and good fruits. It is unwavering, without [self-righteous] hypocrisy [and self-serving guile]. And the seed whose fruit is righteousness (spiritual maturity) is sown in peace by those who make peace [by actively encouraging goodwill between individuals]. AMP

True gifts are pure, full of wisdom and spiritually undefiled. Why is that? Because the person has spent time with God subjective the self realm so that they may decrease and Christ can increase in them. It is the flow of the spirit from an intimate relationship with God that I look for in those who call themselves teachers and are called to the five fold ministry. God is doing away work self-ranking in the body of Christ. It’s not the gifts of the spirit that will be on the forefront anymore but it will be the persons heart that we will see if it is of the Lord or of themselves. Those who take the time with the Lord in heavenly places will burn with the spirit of God and it will be evident who is mature and who isn’t. This is not something I can cheat with in the spirit. You either come to the end of yourself or you don’t.

I believe this is why we are seeing much separation from sheep and goats in the body of Christ today. God is allowing the sifting of hearts and it will be wise for us to take heed so that when we come through the fire of God, pass the test and then we can really flow in the gifts of the spirit and in the office of apostle, prophet, evangelist, teacher and pastor like it was originally intended and designed to be. Our main position is to be positioned in Christ. Without our this first vital element, all these so called office calls mean nothing.

The gifts of God are beautiful and they work wonderfully when properly administered at the right time and the right place. But we have a carnal Church and we must learn to mature and grow up from childish things if we really want to see the manifestation of heaven on earth as well as each of us sitting in our governmental seat of authority that God planned for us long before we were born. Everything is a choice. We each have a choice to go as far and deep and we want to the level of desire that we exert or we can remain shallow and minimally effective or stagnant and to effective at all.

When the Bible says God gave us gifts, He means that He has given the best of the best. That is talking about a caliber and type of people that are so done with themselves that they only burn with the fire of God’s will in their hearts to the point that this world is not even worthy of their presence. I don’t see that level of relationship in the church that often. I see a remnant and that remnant is growing but the majority are very carnal and to be honest, I’m tired of hearing the same regurgitated messages from one so called prophet to another. We are hungry for fresh meat and with that fresh meat comes responsibility and accountability. You know when you are mature when you also are willing to take on the responsibility that comes with great gifting and abilities in the spirit. You can’t have great anointing without great responsibility. It’s time for us to grow up and be all that God has created us to be.

Ephesians 4:11-16 And [His gifts to the church were varied and] He Himself appointed some as apostles [special messengers, representatives], some as prophets [who speak a new message from God to the people], some as evangelists [who spread the good news of salvation], and some as pastors and teachers [to shepherd and guide and instruct], [and He did this] to fully equip and perfect the saints (God’s people) for works of service, to build up the body of Christ [the church]; until we all reach oneness in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, [growing spiritually] to become a mature believer, reaching to the measure of the fullness of Christ [manifesting His spiritual completeness and exercising our spiritual gifts in unity]. So that we are no longer children [spiritually immature], tossed back and forth [like ships on a stormy sea] and carried about by every wind of [shifting] doctrine, by the cunning and trickery of [unscrupulous] men, by the deceitful scheming of people ready to do anything [for personal profit]. But speaking the truth in love [in all things—both our speech and our lives expressing His truth], let us grow up in all things into Him [following His example] who is the Head—Christ. From Him the whole body [the church, in all its various parts], joined and knitted firmly together by what every joint supplies, when each part is working properly, causes the body to grow and mature, building itself up in [unselfish] love.
